Das vorliegende Buch ist aus dem gemeinsam ausgearbeiteten und erweiterten Vorlesungsmanuskript "Konstruktion elektrischer Maschinen" an der Technischen Hochschule Darmstadt entstanden. Der erstgenannte Verfasser schöpfte dabei aus seiner mehr als40-jährigenKon- struktionserfahrung bei verschiedenen europäischen Gro firmen. Der zweitge- nannte bearbeitet als sein enger J\iütarbeiter seit vielen Jahren die technisch-mecha- nischen Probleme des Elektro-Maschinenbaues und hat denn auch die diesbe- züglichen Kapitel verfa t. Der Inhalt des Buches soll den Studierenden an Technischen Hochschulen und Ingenieurschulen vor allen Dingen das Verständnis für die elektrischen Maschi- nen vermitteln und ihnen, wie auch den in der Praxis stehenden Konstruktions- und Anlagen-Ingenieuren, als Nachschlagewerk dienen. Es wurde, wo immer möglich, versucht, mit einfachen mathematischen Grund- lagen auszukommen. Das Buch behandelt die Konstruktion aller Arten von elektrischen Maschinen, mit Ausnahme von Kleinstmaschinen, deren Konstruktionsprobleme mehr fein- werktechnischer Art sind und deshalb einer ganz anderen Behandlung bedürfen. Zahlreiche Beispiele ausgeführter Maschinen, thermische und mechanische Berechnungen mit Beispielen und viele Konstruktionszeichnungen sollen dem Leser ein getreues Bild vom heutigen Stand des Elektromaschinenbaues vermitteln. Da die Konstruktion elektrischer Maschinen auf vielseitige Kenntnisse zurück- greifen mu (Mechanik, insbesondere Festigkeits-, Schwingungs-und Strömungs- lehre, Wärmelehre, Technologie, Werkstoffkunde usw.), kann das Buch viele Pro- bleme nur aufzeigen und kurz behandeln, mu aber für ein tieferes Eindringen in die Materie auf die Spezialliteratur verweisen. Hierzu dienen die Literaturangaben im Text und ein am Schlu des Buches aufgeführtes Verzeichnis von IEC-Publi- kationen und Fachbüchern.
