Di e Fortschritte der 1 etzten Jahre auf dem vieg zur Erzeugung von Fusionsplasmen lassen die Nutzung der Fusionsenergie als physika- lisch möglich erscheinen. Deshalb gewinnen neben den plasmaphysikalischen Proble- men auch technologiscne, ökologische und wirtschaftliche Fragen zunehmend an Be- deutung. Während es zur Physik von Fusionsplasmen eine Reihe von BUchern gibt, besteht bezUglieh der genannten nichtphysikalischen Probleme eine gewisse Lücke. Es ist deshalb die Absicht der Autoren, mit dem vorliegenden Buch neben physikalischen auch technologische, ökologische und wirtschaftl iche Grundlagen unter de 1 Ge- sichtspunkt der Nutzung der kontrollierten Kernfusion zur Energieversorgung so konkret wie derzeit möglich abzuhanoeln. Ein Teil der Probleme, die mit der Anwendung der Fusion verbunden sind, ist von den verschiedenen Konzepten zur Freisetzung und zur Nutzung der Fusionsenergie weitgehend unabhängig und kann deshalb unabhängig von der derzeitigen Hauptar- beitsrichtung innerhalb der Fusionsforschung, dem Tokamak, dargestellt werden. Dies gilt zum einen fUr die Behandlung der physikalischen Grundlagen in den drei ei nfUhrenden Abschni tten, zum anderen trifft es wei tgehend fUr jene Abscimi tte zu, in denen die Energiebilanzen, die Umweltbeeinflussung und die Energiereser- ven zukUnftiger Fusionskraftwerke behandelt werden. Die vom Konzept abhängigen Probleme werden am Beispiel des Tokamaks mit einem Deuterium-Tritium-Plasma besprochen. FUr die Nutzung der Fusionsenergie wird die Stromerzeugung mit hilfe eines thermodynamischen Kreisprozesses angenommen. Be- handelt werden die wichtigsten Komponenten eines Tokamak-Reaktors, dessen Kern das Fusionsplasma bildet.
