Nur selten wird in den Medien das Gräuel dieses Krieges, den eine Regierung gegen die eigenen Staatsbürger führt, beleuchtet. Seit seiner Unabhängigkeit im Jahre 1956 kennt der Sudan mehr Kriegs- als Friedenszeiten. Die Einführung der islamischen Sharia als verbindliche Gesetzesgrundlage auch für diejenigen, die nicht muslimischen Glaubens sind, und deren brutale Durchsetzung, sowie die Verstrickung des Regimes in Khartum mit Osama Bin Laden und seinen terroristischen Ambitionen sind nur ein Kennzeichen unter mehreren des sudanesischen Problems. Seit den Anschlägen auf das World Trade Center im September 2001 und dem daraus resultierenden, durch die USA initiierten sogenannten "Anti-Terror-Krieg" ist der Sudan wieder mehr ins internationale Blickfeld gerückt und entging wohl nur deshalb der Anti-Terror- Offensive, weil Afghanistan und der Irak dem US-amerikanischen Interesse näher lagen und liegen. Diese Arbeit möchte einerseits zunächst die Entstehung des sudanesischen Konflikts aus der Geschichte des Staates Sudans und seiner kolonialen Vorgeschichte erklären, um dann das Phänomen des islamischen Fundamentalismus anhand des Beispieles Sudan zu beschreiben und dessen internationale Bedeutung. Zuletzt werden Lösungsansätze des Konflikts eingebracht, darunter auch Ma nahmen gegen den religiös motivierten Terrorismus, die nicht mit einer simplen Kriegserklärung einhergehen. [...]
