Christina Leber betrachtet fünf Unternehmen, die Gegenwartskunst sammeln und gesammelt haben, und arbeitet in ausführlichen Interviews mit den Entscheidungsträgern heraus, welchen Stellenwert dabei kunsthistorischen Kriterien zukommt und inwieweit die Sammlungen Bestandteil einer Unternehmenskultur sein können und sollen. Die Autorin stellt fest, dass in deutschen Firmen teilweise kunsthistorisch bedeutsame Schätze ruhen, von Kunsthistorikern wegen der privatwirtschaftlichen Finanzierung bislang kaum beachtet. Dieses Buch beweist, dass das sogenannte Corporate Collecting kein primär amerikanisches Phänomen ist, wie frühere Autoren annahmen. Im Gegensatz zu amerikanischen Vorbildern kommt in Deutschland der Vermittlung von Kunst an die Mitarbeiter eine gro e Bedeutung zu. Damit dokumentiert die Autorin, dass in deutschen Unternehmen durchaus eigenständige Strömungen einer qualitativ hochwertigen Sammlungstätigkeit bestehen und appelliert an die wissenschaftliche Welt, diese Unternehmenssammlungen auch in Zukunft einer eingehenderen kunsthistorischen Betrachtung zu unterziehen.

About The Author

Die Autorin: Christina Leber, geboren 1966, arbeitete schon während ihres Studiums in Kunstsammlungen von Wirtschaftsunternehmen in den USA und in Deutschland. Von 1999 bis 2001 war sie Geschäftsführerin der 2. berlin biennale. Seit 2003 arbeitet sie für die Kunstsammlung einer Bank.
