Pone en manifiesto los cambios de mentalidad sucedidos a comienzos del siglo XX, derivados de la interacci�n cultural propia de las migraciones acaecidas como consecuencia del fen�meno de violencia que suscita la Independencia del yugo europeo, adem�s del anhelo de acceder al progreso y al mejoramiento de condiciones de vida que promet�a la ciudad moderna. Mentalidad alimentada adem�s por la admiraci�n que se expresa por las culturas inglesa y francesa, conocidas a trav�s del incremento de los viajes a este continente y al asentamiento de emigrantes europeos en nuestro pa�s, que huyen de los efectos de la Primera y la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Este anhelo se alivia en la adopci�n de su estilo de vida, sus gustos y costumbres, en general todo aspecto de la vida cotidiana, lo cual evidentemente incluye el lugar de residencia. El estilo y en general los objetos, son factores que identifican una clase social; la uni�n de la naciente burgues�a industrial con la tradicional, sumado al sentimiento de negaci�n de todo aquello que refleje una huella hisp�nica, fortalece el anhelo de distinci�n y la idea de introducirse en los fen�menos de modernidad; aunque la noci�n inicial de moderno sea m�s visual que conceptual.
