En octubre de 1988 ocurrió en El Amparo, estado Apure, Venezuela, una masacre. 14 pescadores fueron asesinados por un comando policial y militar llamado CEJAP, que los emboscó y les disparó indiscriminadamente. Sólo 2 pescadores lograron sobrevivir a la masacre. Y gracias a ellos fue posible conocer toda la verdad de lo que había ocurrido. Pero antes de la Masacre de El Amparo hubo otras masacres. En los sectores de Guarumito, Los Totumitos y Caño Las Gaviotas fueron asesinados y masacrados otros pescadores y campesinos bajo el mismo modus operandi aplicado en el Caño Las Coloradas el 29 de octubre de 1988. El periodista venezolano Gustavo Azócar Alcalá, investigó en 1988 y 1989 todo el entramado que había detrás de la masacre de El Amparo y logró dar con los responsables, la mayoría de ellos policías y militares. Este libro recoge esa investigación con lujo de detalles. Lo peor del caso no sólo fue la muerte de los 14 pescadores. Lo más grave fue que la Justicia Militar venezolana nunca aplicó todo el peso de la ley a los responsables. Por el contrario: los altos oficiales militares que tuvieron sobre sus hombros la responsabilidad de la operación fueron premiados con cargos en el gobierno. Esta es la historia de una masacre y una injusticia, que hemos querido mantener viva, 30 años después.
