Calvo Poyato, José: - José Calvo Poyato (Cabra, 1951) es doctor en Historia Moderna. Como historiador, ha trabajado sobre el tránsito de los Austrias a los Borbones y la configuración del nuevo modelo de Estado en el siglo XVIII. Comenzó a cultivar la novela histórica hace más de dos décadas con El hechizo del rey; después vendrían, entre otras, La dama del dragón y El sueño de Hipatia. Toda ellas tuvieron una excelente acogida, consagrándolo como uno de los más impor-tantes autores del género histórico en España. En sus últimas obras, Sangre en la calle del Turco, El Gran Capitán y El Espía del Rey, ha abordado personajes clave en la historia de España, como son el general Prim, presidente de gobierno, asesinado en 1870. Gonzalo Fernández de Córdoba, conquistador de Nápoles en el reinado de los Reyes Católicos, o Jorge Juan, el gran marino de la época ilustrada.
