Jessica Mach and Peter Aurisch are actually tattoo artists and illustrators. In early 2014 they added another arrow to their quiver when they opened a bistro in Berlin's Friedrichshain district. With this new adventure they sought to pursue their second passion in life: the vegan kitchen. Berlin Bachelor, Ei Caramba, and The Geisha, are just a few of the dishes out of Laauma's fusion-kitchen served to guests in the cozy Upcycling atmosphere. Despite success and the ever-climbing number of guests, the two decided to end their gastro-adventure in December 2016, choosing rather to focus entirely on work in their Berlin art studio. Now, they've revealed in their cookbook some of the original recipes from the Laauma kitchen! 'Real Food Is Something You Share' is not just the title of the two's first cookbook, but also the motto that they have used to casually and creatively motivate people to actually want to cook. Their recipes shouldn't be seen as instructions, rather as inspiration, inspiration to get to know one's own taste, inspiration to let fantasy play, and thereby to invite friends and family to share in the celebration of cooking as often as possible. Their most cherished recipes, a peek at the bistro through photos, and colorful illustrations from Peter Aurisch make this book a work of love. Vegan shouldn't be a stamp. In Laauma the guests had to read between the lines to see that there were no animal products used. Passersby could spontaneously and impartially enjoy a purely plant-based meal and discover new worlds of taste experiences.
