Lorsqu' il y a un peu plus de dix ans, mes parents ont cédé leur petite ferme maraîchère, afin de rejoindre une retraite bien méritée - alors que, depuis toujours, j'avais profité de mon désintérêt pour la terre pour partir au loin - le choc fut d'autant plus violent que je me retrouvai, pour la première fois de ma vie, totalement seul et sans projets. J'ai pris la nouvelle en pleine figure. Ce fut un arrachement d'autant plus violent donc, qu'au même moment, j'achevais ma 'libération', entreprise vingt ans plus tôt. Cette petite ferme, comme la souche d'un arbre mort, se présenta clairement comme un ultime refuge qui disparaissait et, peut être, la dernière preuve tangible de mon bonheur des débuts, en mesure de donner un sens à mon histoire. Je me retrouvais nu, fragile, sans causalité. Mon enfance avait été heureuse et, revenant à la source de mon être, je n'ai pas trouvé mieux que de me tourner vers l'écriture, puisque c'est ainsi que j'avais toujours fait. J'ai donc sorti ma plus belle plume, et je me suis lancé dans la rédaction de ce chant d'amour quasi-élégiaque.

C'est pourquoi, quelques années plus tard, en composant mes petits 'romans-expresso', beaucoup plus légers et portés par la fantaisie que L'Ail des Ours, l'idée s'est imposée assez vite qu'ils prendraient tout leur sens, si je les mettais en perspective avec ce texte fondateur, resté inédit. Puisque alors l'humour ne se présentait encore que comme une hypothèse théorique.

Voilà. C'est sans aucun doute un événement important dans ma vie, que cette publication. Il me reste à espérer que ces pages précieuses sauront toucher au coeur les membres de ma famille, mes amis, et les lecteurs du blog. Car ce sont eux qui leurs attribueront la plénitude stylistique, la profondeur de vue et le caractère universel, nécessaires à l'accomplissement d'une destinée, que j'ai souhaitée la plus littéraire possible.
