Dave Dougherty is an author who lived from 1979 to 2001 in El Paso, and is intimately familiar with the region and chili cooking, being often a participant at chili cook-offs. He was a Professor in the Business Department, and headed up the Computer Science - Business Option Program from 1979 to 1984 at the University of Texas, El Paso. He holds advanced degrees from Colorado School of Mines and Case Western Reserve University and advanced to candidacy for a PhD at both Case Western Reserve and the University of Maryland. He is a Registered Professional Engineer. Dave has authored over twenty academic papers and a number of books, primarily history, including A Patriot's History Reader: Essential Documents for Every American, A Patriot's History of the Modern World, Volumes I and II, Starve The Beast!, and now Landslide.
