He wrote the book Developing a Talent for Science (Cambridge, 2011) about the life of modern scientists in today's academic environment. He subsequently published his book Funding your career in Science (Cambridge, 2013) about how to attain research grants. This third book Leading Your Research Team in Science completes the trilogy.
