Playing with Sheet Music is a series of accessible textbooks for music lovers of all ages. The method is based on practical experience of piano teaching and is suitable for both self-study and lessons under the guidance of a teacher.


In this fourth book, you'll learn to play and recognise chords from sheet music. You will learn to play the major and minor chords in all keys with efficient fingering. Concepts that are regularly used by musicians - such as overtones, triads, inversions, broken chords, seventh chords, harmony and cadences - are explained in an understandable way. The theory has been incorporated into a large number of clear exercises with which you can gradually lay a solid foundation for playing almost all music styles.


Learn to Read and Play Chords is the logical continuation of the successful other books in the series, Playing with Sheet Music. In Book 1, you learn to read notes for the left and right hand. Book 2 is entirely devoted to keys and scales. In Book 3, you learn to play measure and rhythm. In this fourth book, you learn harmony and chords. At the end of this book, everything comes together in comprehensive exercises. We wish you a lot of fun with the exercises, which are made for and by musicians.

Abel, Iebele: - Iebele Abel (1969) studied at the art academy. He taught at art colleges and universities. In addition to his his artistic work, he is active as a copywriter and director within his own production agency. He produced meditative music and designed algorithms for computerized music composition. He is author and co-author of several books and articles.

Lamfers, Jacco: - Jacco Lamfers (1970) studied piano and composition. He taught at various institutions for higher music education. In addition to his work as a pianist and song accompanist, he has written numerous commissioned compositions and arrangements.
