Die Maschinendynamik ist in den Lehrplanen ailer Hochschulfachrichtungen des konstruktiven Maschinenbaus in der Deutschen Demokratischen Republik verankert. Sie baut auf der Technischen Mechanik auf und stellt fUr die Studenten eine unmittel- bare Konfrontierung mit typischen dynamischen Problemen ihres Fachgebietes dar. Es handelt sich also urn eine Maschinendynamik, die sowohl dynamische Probleme des Energiemaschinenbaus (Kolbenmaschinen und Turbomaschinen), des Verarbei- tungsmaschinenbaus (z. B. Druckmaschinen, Textilmaschinen, Verpackungsma- schinen), der Fordergerate, Landmaschinen und Fahrzeuge sowie des Anlagenbaus anspricht. Die bisher vorliegende Literatur auf diesem Gebiet ist entweder zu fachspezifisch oder sie geht zu wenig auf die unmittelbar in der Technischen Mechanik (Grundstudium) vermittelten Kenntnisse ein. In vielen Fallen entspricht sie auch nicht mehr dem praktischen Bedurfnis der Bezugnahme auf EDV-Programme. Diese Lucke soIl das vorliegende Lehrbuch schlieBen und die Briicke zur Spezialliteratur bestimmter Fach- richtungen (z. B. Kolben- und Turbomaschinenbau) schlagen. Bei seiner Konzipierung standen wir vor der Wahl, entweder eine allgemeine Schwin- gungslehre diskreter linearer Systeme voranzusteilen und dann in A bschnitten der Maschinendynamik darauf zu verweisen oder jeden Abschnitt relativ selbstandig aufzubauen und am SchluB eine allgemein gultige Darstellung im Sinne der Schwtn- gungslehre zu geben. Wir haben uns konsequent fUr den zweiten Weg entschieden, obwohl uns diese Entscheidung nicht leicht gefallen ist. Den Ausschlag dazu gab die Dberlegung, daB nicht von jedem Maschinenbauingenieur verlangt werden kann, daB er erst dann ein spezieiles Problem anfassen darf, wenn er die Schwingungslehre beherrscht.
