In dem vorliegenden Lehrbuch sonte das Gesamtgebiet der Textilchemie eine grundlegende Darstellung erfahren. Dabei wurde besonderer Wert auf die Zusam- menhange zwischen dem Chemismus von Fasem, Farbstoffen und Textilhilfsmit- teln einerseits und den Textilveredlungsvorgangen andererseits gelegt. Das Buch soU eine Brucke zwischen der T exWchemie und der T extilveredlung bil- den. Die verfahrenstechnische, rezepturmaBige und maschinentechnische Seite der Textilveredlung, d.h. also die textilchemische Technologie, wurde insoweit be- rucksichtigt, als dies fUr eine geschlossene Darstellung des Stoffes und fUr das Ver- standnis der Arbeitsprozesse notwendig war. Neben der Faserstoffchemie und der Chemic der Textilveredlung ist die Farbstoff- chemie in einem besonderen Kapitel behandelt. Hierbei sind auch Beispiele fiIr die Synthesc und die Konstitution der Farbstoffe aufgefiIhrt. Besonderer Wert wurde auf die Herausstellung der Zusammenhange zwischen Konstitution und Eigen- schaften der Farbstoffe einerseits und ihrer anwendungstechnischen Seite anderer- seits gelegt. Die Betrachtung dieser Zusammenhange fUhrt dann automatisch zu der Besprechung der Anwendung der Farbstoffe in der Farberei und Druckerei. Eine solche Darstellung des Stoffes ist besonders deshalb gerechtfertigt, da bei einer ganzen Anzahl von Farbeverfahren die Synthese des Farbstoffes nicht in der Farbenfabrik, sondem in der Farberei und Druckerei, d.h. also auf der Faser, er- folgt. Daruber hinaus wird der auf die Faser gebrachte Farbstoff im Interesse der Echtheitserh6hung im AnschluB an den FarbeprozcB haufig chemisch verandert, bzw. er wird in chemischer Reaktion an die Faser gebunden. Das Kapitel uber Farbstoffchemie ist demnach ganz auf die Belange der Textilchemie bzw. Textil- veredlung abgestellt.
