\"In dem vorliegenden Lehrbuch habe ich mir die Aufgabe gestellt, die topographische Anatomie in knapper Form unter Beigabe von zahlreichen Abbildungen zu bearbeiten. An vorzüglichen Handbüchern fehlt es nicht, doch verlangt der Studierende in der Regel eine kürzere Darstellung und erst zum Arzt oder zum Operateur herangereift, unternimmt er es, die grösseren Werke oder einzelne Kapitel derselben durchzuarbeiten. Der Studierende wünscht eine vollständige, wenn auch knappe Darstellung des Stoffes und daneben Abbildungen, welche ihn in den Stand setzen, das Gelesene als Vorstellung zu verwerten. Von diesen Gedanken ausgehend habe ich das Lehrbuch verfasst. Die Darstellung ist auf das Wesentlichste beschränkt worden. In einem Lehrbuch der topographischen Anatomie soll noch mehr als in einem Handbuch die Frage nach dem Werte des Geschilderten für die Praxis ma gebend sein. Ein Anatom darf sich selbstverständlich nicht ohne weiteres ein Urteil über diesen Punkt anmassen, aber bis zu einem gewissen Grade muss er sich doch darüber Rechenschaft ablegen und wird bei seiner Schilderung eklektisch verfahren. Die zur Erklärung notwendigen Tatsachen aus der deskriptiven Anatomie habe ich möglichst kurz erwähnt, unter Weglassung alles Unwesentlichen. Etwas ausführlicher, als das bisher in Lehrbüchern geschehen ist, habe ich die Variabilität der Organe berücksichtigt.\" Dieses Lehrbuch der topographischen Anatomie für Studierende und Ärzte ist ein unveränderter Nachdruck der Originalausgabe der fünfzehnten Auflage von 1923. Illustriert mit über 670 historischen schwarz-wei Abbildungen.
