(Benjamin Britten) Begriffe wie "Lebenslanges Lernen" oder Seminartitel und -konzepte wie "Der Mensch lernt niemals aus" gewinnen auf allen politischen, gesellschaftlichen und wissenschaftlichen Ebenen immer mehr an Bedeutung. Aufgrund demografischer Entwicklungen r�cken auch immer mehr Erwachsene in der nachberuflichen Phase in den Fokus von Politik und Wissenschaft. Begriffe wie die "neuen Alten" oder die "jungen Alten" zeigen auf, dass die Lebensphase Alter neu gedacht und interpretiert wird. Alter zeichnet sich heute in der allgemeinen Wahrnehmung (auch aufgrund medialer Darstellungen) eher durch Produktivit�t und Aktivit�t, als durch Schw�che, Krankheit und Verluste aus. Der allgemeine Kanon lautet vielmehr: Alles ist m�glich. Gest�tzt wird diese These auch durch wissenschaftliche Erkenntnisse, wie zum Beispiel aus der Gehirnforschung, die mit der Entdeckung der Neuroplastizit�t festgestellt hat, dass ein Gehirn eines �lteren �hnlich leistungsf�hig sein kann, wie das eines jungen Menschen. Doch was passiert, wenn der Mensch physisch und psychisch an seine Grenzen st� t? Wenn er aufgrund seines Alters und der nachlassenden Kraft nicht mehr dem Bild der "jungen Alten" mit offensichtlichem Entwicklungspotential entspricht? Welche Entwicklungsm�glichkeiten hat der Mensch im hohen Lebensalter, indem er zunehmend mehr in verschiedene Formen der Abh�ngigkeit geraten kann? Hilft ihm ein lernendes Auseinandersetzen mit sich und seiner Umwelt vor einem zur�cktreiben im Lebensstrom? Was muss im Lehr-Lern-Prozess beachtet werden, dass "Hochaltrige" f�r sich, im Sinne einer Erm�glichungsdidaktik, einen viablen (Lern-)Weg finden?
