Ses recherches actuelles portent sur l'ethnicisation des relations éducatives en France, sur les conflits liés à l'application du principe de laïcité dans le cadre de scolaire, les politiques d'éducation prioritaire, les effets des ségrégations ethniques et sociales sur les pratiques éducatives, et les pratiques punitives dans l'espace éducatif.
Françoise Lorcerie est politiste, directrice de recherches CNRS émérite à l'Institut de Recherche sur les Mondes Arabes et Musulmans (UMR 7310 CNRS/AMU). Ses recherches portent sur l'approche théorique de la pluralité ethnoraciale et ethnoreligieuse, sa légitimation républicaine (laïcité, intégration, assimilation), et les transformations de l'école au prisme de cette pluralité.
