Je me suis mari ma manire.
Complimax believed that it was necessary to block others in order to move forward alone. By wanting to expel Toubamb from Kaba College, he had used Survalus, who had sacrificed his life and that of his family, the future of his offspring and his village. It was therefore fair to say that cohabitation was difficult. Badj, the eldest of our fathers, was jealous of his younger brother, Mbakiri, ours. Using occult means, he had killed him to inherit his property. Shamelessly, he had sent us away from his home. This bad memory disrupted the understanding between our cousins, the sons of Badji, and us. Instead of repairing it, Toudjimax, his son, had driven the point home. Yet, God continues to watch over us more closely. The more his descendants developed jealousy against us, the poorer they became. While, on our side, we prospered at great speed. Our success had become a reason for hatred that blinded our cousins and pushed them to further widen the gap between us. What will I do then to rebuild the fraternity between Badj's descendants and those of my father? Since I became a civil servant, I had never set foot in my native village. What will I do to regain the esteem of the village's brothers? As Survalus had given his life for this village, what will I do for the cause of my village? I have neither land nor house in the village. In the event of war, crisis, illness, or major problem, who will I ask for help and where will I go? Without a wife, without children, my salary was still not enough for me. Shame gnawed at my heart. I married in my own way. I met a woman, tired of leading a life of debauchery like me, and we agreed to live together and support each other in order to change our behavior. Unfortunately, the financial crisis has struck. My salary will be reduced. This crisis is not inevitable for me.
