Dabei liegt das Hauptaugenmerk vor allem auf der Fragestellung, wie sich LRS auf das Erlernen einer Fremdsprache auswirkt, wie mit Lese-Rechtschreibschwierigkeiten beim Erlernen einer Fremdsprache umgegangen wird, welche Problematiken dabei auftreten und wie man als Fremdsprachen-Lehrkraft dieser Thematik auf angebrachte Art und Weise begegnen kann. Schriftsprachliches Material begegnet uns tagtäglich in unserem Alltag und die Fähigkeiten und Fertigkeiten des Lesens und Schreibens sind bedeutsamer denn je. Sie sind die Grundfertigkeiten, die uns helfen informiert zu bleiben, zu kommunizieren und nehmen einen gro en Stellenwert in unserer Gesellschaft ein. Es gibt praktisch keinen Lebensbereich, beruflich oder privat, der ohne Schrift denkbar ist. Jedoch bleibt die Gewissheit durch internationale Schulvergleiche wie der PISA-Studie, dass sowohl Kinder, Jugendliche als auch Erwachsene weder das Lesen noch das Schreiben in ausreichendem Ma beherrschen und dabei starke Schwierigkeiten aufweisen. Ebenso ist das Beherrschen von Fremdsprachen heutzutage durch stetig wachsende internationale Verflechtungen zur Notwendigkeit geworden. Auch hier gelingt dieser Fremdspracherwerb aber einer Reihe von Menschen nicht befriedigend, obwohl sie ausreichend Flei und Intelligenz vorweisen, wofür ein schwerwiegender Grund die Lese-Rechtschreibschwäche ist. Durch ihre andersartigen Lernvoraussetzungen ist für sie der Erwerb einer Fremdsprache mit mehr Schwierigkeiten verbunden, als für andere - scheinbare Willkür von Lauten und deren Schreibweise machen diesen Lernern das Erwerben einer Fremdsprache sehr schwer.
