En 1989 et 1990, trois ONG internationales (l'IRED, l'Institut Panos et ENDA) menaient une �tude pour mieux cerner les contraintes et les perspectives de la communication � la base au Sahel. En juin 1990, � leur initiative, une cinquantaine d'ONG, de groupes de base, de professionnels du d�veloppement et de la communication se r�unissaient au Burkina Faso pour s'exprimer, t�moigner, discuter des r�sultats de l'�tude et de leur propre exp�rience; et aussi pour b�tir des projets. C'est de ce foisonnement qu'est n� le pr�sent livre.
