de Jesús, Teresa: - También conocida como Teresa de Ávila (1515-1582), heredó de su madre el gusto por la lectura de vidas de santos y novelas de caballerías. A pesar de la inicial reticencia de su padre, ingresó a los veinte años en el Convento carmelitano de la Encarnación. Su vocación religiosa la llevó a emprender la fundación de quince conventos por Castilla y Andalucía, empresa que se recoge en El Libro de las Fundaciones. Escribió acerca de la vida espiritual en Camino de Perfección, que recoge el ideal de la descalcez, y en Las moradas del alma, que recoge consejos para la vida mística. Otras de sus obras más conocidas son sus Poesías y el relato de su vida, Vida de Santa Teresa de Jesús. Es uno de los grandes ejemplos del humanismo en España, alabada ya en su tiempo por la pureza de estilo, la gracia y la elegancia de su escritura.
