Life Without Justice: When the Truth Becomes the Enemy of Power is the true story of Dwight L. Allen and Kelly Garrett; two lives forever changed by a system that refused to admit its own mistakes.
Dwight, a Black man fighting to rebuild his life, is pulled into a chain of accusations that spiral into a wrongful conviction. Kelly, once the State's key witness, begins to see the truth unravel in misstatements, ignored evidence, and decisions made before facts were ever fully heard.
As Dwight fights for his freedom from behind prison walls, Kelly faces a different battle on the outside: speaking a truth the system does not want told.
This is not just a story of injustice.
It is a story of love, loss, resilience and the devastating cost when truth is buried.
Once you start reading, you won't be able to look away. And when you finish, you won't forget it.

About The Authors
Life Without Justice: When Truth Becomes the Enemy of Power is the true story written by first-time author Dwight L. Allen, in partnership with co-author Kelly Garrett. Their lives reflect resilience in the face of injustice and personal tragedy. Once an interracial couple navigating the realities of the American South, their shared experiences reveal how the legacies of Jim Crow and segregation continue to shape modern courtrooms and prison systems.
Dwight Allen, currently incarcerated in the State of Georgia, writes from more than two decades of lived experience inside one of the nation's most troubled correctional systems. His voice speaks not only to wrongful conviction and systemic inequality, but also to the daily struggle of black and brown men whose lives are shaped by structural bias within the criminal justice system. Through years of legal advocacy, study, and collaboration with reform advocates, Allen has dedicated himself to amplifying the voices of the poor, the marginalized, and those too often silenced by the system.
Kelly Garrett as co-author, brings a powerful perspective grounded in perseverance, truth-telling, and a refusal to allow injustice to remain hidden. Together, the authors argue that the fight for equality is not abstract it unfolds every day in courtrooms across America, where decisions made by individuals in positions of power can determine freedom, safety, and dignity.
