Der vorliegende Band behandelt die fiir das Studium und die spätere Unterrichtstätig- keit der Lehrer an Grund-, Haupt- und Realschulen wesentlichen Themen aus dem Be- reich der Linearen Algebra. Entsprechend der Zielsetzung der Reihe Mathematik flir die Lehrerausbildung haben die Verfasser auf eine relativ breite Darstellung Wert gelegt, die insbesondere durch die Dreiteilung der einzelnen Abschnitte in einen motivierenden Teil A, einen methodisch- systematischen Teil B und einen praxisorientierten Teil C dem Leser den Zugang zu diesem Gebiet erleichtert. Ein erster überblickartiger Zugang zu dem jeweiligen Problemkreis wird dem Leser in den A-Teilen eröffnet. In besonders einfacher und durchsichtiger Form werden die einzelnen Probleme umrissen, Querverbindungen aufgezeigt und erste Hinweise zur Lösung gegeben. Die in den A-Teilen angeschnittenen Fragen werden in den B-Teilen exakt formuliert und systematisch gelöst. In den C-Teilen knüpfen die Verfasser an die Überlegungen aus den A-Teilen an, um dann Wege zur Übersetzung des methodisch-systematischen Teiles in die Schulpraxis aufzuzeigen. Bei der Darstellung wird ferner darauf geachtet, da der Vektorraumbegriff als eine grundlegende mathematische Struktur bei der Behandlung von linearen Gleichungs- systemen und linearen Abbildungen besonders hervortritt, um hierdurch die inneren Zusammenhänge hervorzuheben und das Verständnis zu fördern. Im Hinblick auf die Anwendungen wird neben den üblichen Themen insbesondere der Problemkreis Lineare Optimierung behandelt.- Der erste Abschnitt enthält die grundlegenden Begriffe und Sätze über den Vektorraum, die am Beispiel eines vierdimensionalen Einkaufsvektorraurns veranschaulicht werden.
