Die Gesellschaft fUr Physiologische Chemie dankt dem Deutschen Akademischen Austauschdienst und dem Margarine-Institut fiir ge- sunde Ernahrung, Hamburg, fUr groBziigige Unterstiitzung, die es moglich machte, Forscher aus den Vereinigten Staaten, Kanada, Japan und England zu Vortragen einzuladen. Der Stadt Mosbach gebiihrt unser Dank fiir die seit Jahren gewahrte groBziigige Gast- freundschaft. Die Drucklegung verzogerte sich durch Sch wierigkeiten bei der Redaktion der Diskussion. Die schriftliche Fixierung einer Dis- kussion ist ja sowieso eine fragwiirdige Angelegenheit: das Wesent- liche, die geistige Spannung des Augenblicks laBt sich nicht repro- duzieren. So bleibt eine Sammlung von Bemerkungen, von denen viele nur durch den nicht immer rekonstruierbaren Gang der Dis- kussion Sinn und Gewicht erhalten. N ach reiflichen Uberlegungen ha ben sich der V orstand der Gesell- schaft fiir Physiologische Chemie und der Springer-Verlag schlieB- lich entschlossen, die Vortrage ohne Diskussion zum Druck zu bringen.
