The second South Asian edition of Lippincott's Illustrated Reviews: Microbiology has been extensively revised and revamped, not only to align it to the requirement of the CBME curriculum put forth by NMC, but also make it smoother and easier for students to grasp the essence of the subject.
About the Author
Dr Sumathi Muralidhar, MD (Microbiology), Diploma (STD & AIDS-Thailand), is currently working as Professor, Department of Microbiology, Vardhman Mahavir Medical College, New Delhi, and also as Consultant Microbiologist and Nodal Officer at the Apex Regional STD Centre & SRL-HIV, Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi. She has over three decades of teaching experience and is passionate about her teaching and literary pursuits. She has authored and contributed various books, chapters, and manuals, including those for NACO and IGNOU, and has published over 60 research and scientific papers in various national and international medical journals of repute. Dr Sumathi is an empaneled lead and technical assessor for NABL. She is also a resource person for NACO (Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, India) and a member of their Technical Advisory Group (TAG), Technical Resource Group (TRG), and Technical Specifications Committee (TSC). She also holds life membership of several professional scientific and academic bodies in India, including IAMM, IASSTD & AIDS, HISI (India). She has received numerous awards and honors at both national and international levels.;
Dr Suchitra Shenoy M., MD (Microbiology), MBA (Finance), Diploma in Infection Prevention and Control, is currently working as Professor and Head, Department of Microbiology, Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore. She also holds the positions of Chairperson at the HAIC of KMC Hospitals and the Government Wenlock Hospital, Mangalore. She has more than 20 years of teaching experience. She has authored 68 articles in both national and international journals and two textbooks for nursing and physiotherapy students, as well as Antibiotic Basics for Clinicians, SAE. She has also coauthored chapters on mycology in three dermatology textbooks. Dr. Shenoy actively engages with the community through awareness programs on infectious diseases, broadcasted on local television and All India radio channels. Her research interests span various crucial areas, including antimicrobial resistance among bacteria, immunodiagnosis of infectious and autoimmune diseases, fungal infections, and infection control and prevention in hospitals. She is a valued life member of numerous national medical bodies.
