Jonathan Safran Foer ENGLISH DESCRIPTION Affection deals with the gradual disintegration of the Ertls, a peculiar family of thrill-seekers who, after the defeat of Germany during World War II, decide to go into exile in Bolivia. It is in these strange lands where the head of the family, Hans Ertl, attempts to reach the great dream of Paitití, the lost city of the Incas that is supposedly hidden in some inhospitable corner of the Amazon jungle. Monika, his oldest and most adventurous child, is the only one who ends up inheriting his maverick character, over time launching herself toward an even riskier objective.
