En este libro he tratado de destacar, desde el análisis de los textos, la presencia de un sujeto y sus avatares en el acceso a un discurso que deberá ser suyo de un modo u otro en la medida en que es un estudiante y que, por tanto, debe llegar a saber escribir de acuerdo con una propuesta científico-disciplinar determinada. En el análisis se ha partido del material lingüístico para marcar los quiebres en el discurso que se plasma en la escritura y la investigación ha buscado consolidarse alrededor de núcleos que ocasionan rupturas discursivas para visualizar de que modo esas rupturas son singulares e instantáneas, y dejan a la luz la presencia de un sujeto que muestra lo diferente como constitutivo en el orden del lenguaje.

Esa presencia del sujeto se manifiesta a la vez como dotada de una enorme fuerza que le permite romper con las restricciones y al mismo tiempo como la evidencia de una gran indefensión, ya que, al margen de las restricciones, el sujeto que escribe se coloca en la frontera del lenguaje. Quizás de otra manera, pero dándole el mismo valor, puede percibir estos fenómenos un poeta: "Cuando a la casa del lenguaje se le vuela el tejado y las palabras no guarecen, yo hablo" (A. Pizarnik). Creo que en cierto sentido esta investigación ha buscado en los textos de los alumnos aquellos lugares en que las palabras" no guarecen" para acercarse a las características del funcionamiento lingüístico-discursivo de los sujetos y tratar de enunciar algunas de las propiedades de ese funcionamiento.
