de Forest, Jane: - "Born in New York City and raised in the Midwest, I grew up surrounded by giant elms, vast cornfields and a richly cultural homelife. Not only could I discern the thoughts of others, see non-physical beings and communicate with them, I knew when grown-ups were fibbing -- which caused a variety of problems. I also knew at an early age that I was an artist; I attended amazing schools like the Interlochen Arts Academy, while the Rhode Island School of Design taught me to refine my craft. My remarkable family -- brilliant, talented and devoted -- dragged me to museums around the world and encouraged out-of-the-box thinking. Severe dyslexia inhibited my scholarly interests, but allowed for alternative intuitive systems to develop naturally. Years of solitary painting of murals and commissioned canvases somehow taught me to absorb non-linear information through osmosis.
