Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2010 im Fachbereich Pädagogik - Pädagogische Psychologie, Note: 1,0, Eberhard-Karls-Universität Tübingen (Erziehungswissenschaft), Veranstaltung: Seminar: Jungenpädagogik und Gesundheit, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Essstörungen haben in den letzten zehn bis fünfzehn Jahren verstärkt öffentliches Interesse sowohl in der Wissenschaft als auch in den Medien ausgelöst und einen hohen gesellschafts-politischen Stellwert erlangt. 1972 wurden für die Anorexia Nervosa erstmals diagnostische Kriterien gebildet, kurz darauf wurde sie als "Verhaltensstörung des Jugendalters" in die gro en internationalen Klassifikationssysteme aufgenommen. Heute wird Anorexie zusammen mit der Bulimia Nervosa und der Adipositas zu den Essstörungen gerechnet. Begründet wird dieses öffentliche Interesse damit, dass das Auftreten der Anorexie bei den Mädchen und jungen Frauen, aber auch bei den männlichen Jugendlichen in den letzten Jahren erheblich zugenommen haben soll. Diesbezüglich ist jedoch Skepsis angebracht. Eine genaue Analyse von 29 gro en internationalen epidemiologischen Untersuchungen der letzten 25 Jahre bestätigt die Zunahme der Neuerkrankungen nicht, sondern kommt zu dem Schluss, dass die Anorexia Nervosa weiterhin eine ernstzunehmende aber seltene Störung ist und es gibt auch keine Nachweise, dass das Auftreten sich entscheidend verändert hat. Des Weiteren werden die Essstörungen allgemein und epidemiologisch zu den frauenspezifi-schen Erkrankungen gezählt und deshalb bei den Jungen und Männern in Vergleich zu den Mädchen und Frauen noch wenig erforscht. Doch unabhängig von dem Geschlecht und der Anzahl anorektischer Patienten ist es wichtig, dass jeder von ihnen einen Weg findet gesund zu werden. Deshalb ist eine möglichst umfassende Information und Beratung des Patienten, seiner Familie und Kontaktpersonen, über Krankheit, Behandlung und den richtigen Umgang unverzichtbar.
