However, God, the designer and mastermind of marriage, has given us the blueprint of marriage; it is contained in the Scriptures. What is it?B- Bonding together: The man and his wife must bond together. Their hearts and souls must be knitted together as one; that is, two of them must have shared feelings, interest and experiences. "Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh" (Genesis 2:24). L-Leaving and cleaving: You have to leave your biological parents, relations, friends and everyone you have lived or associated with since you've been born, and be joined to one person - your spouse - for lifetime. Leaving and cleaving is both physical and emotional. You will leave your parent's or guardian's physical home or custody and live elsewhere with your spouse, but also transfer your emotional attachment from them to your new partner. "For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? (Matthew 19:5).U- Unequal yoke prohibited: "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hat righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath light with darkness?" (2 Corinthians 6:14). This admonition is pungent and straightforward: as a born-again Christian, do not marry a non-Christian. Do not allow anything or anyone to mislead or misguide you into unholy relationship.E- Endearing love for your spouse: "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ loved the church, and gave himself for it" (Ephesians 5:25). You must have unconditional and sacrificial love for your spouse. Love your spouse just as Jesus loves the Church. Jesus died for the redemption of the Church. That should be the measure of your love for your spouse.P-Putting away forbidden: "For the Lord, the God of Israel, saith that he hateth putting away" (Malachi 2:16).
