Abgesehen von der gesetzlichen Notwendigkeit, kann ein Unternehmen ohne handlungsfähige Führung auf kurz oder lang nicht wettbewerbsfähig handeln. Doch eine Führung alleine ist bei weitem kein Allheilmittel. Um unternehmerisch erfolg-reich zu sein, bedarf es einer erfolgreichen Führung. Auch wenn es schon längere Zeit Führungstheorien gibt, ein Rezept, mit dessen Hilfe erfolgreich geführt werden kann, wurde bisher weder entwickelt noch scheint sich in absehbarer Zeit ein solches zu finden. Der Grund dafür besteht in der Natur der Sache, denn wie jedes Individuum, so sind auch Unternehmen unterschiedlich geprägt und haben eine eigene Unternehmenskultur. Diese Hausarbeit beginnt mit einer Definition von Führung. Daran anschlie end werden die verschiedenen Instrumente der Unternehmensführung behandelt. Führungsstil, Führungstheorien, Führungsverhalten und Führungstechniken klingen dem Namen nach ähnlich. Allerdings haben die Instrumente eine ganz unterschiedliche Bedeutung. Um die sich unter der Führungstechnik befindlichen Management-by-Konzepte vorstellen zu können, müssen die Führungsinstrumente voneinander abgegrenzt werden. Kern der Hausarbeit bildet die Darstellung der Management-by-Konzepte. In der Literatur werden weit über 40 Konzepte diskutiert. Dies macht eine umfassende Darstellung im Rahmen dieser Hausarbeit unmöglich. Es wird deshalb auf die in der Literatur am häufigsten genannten und als essenziell angesehenen Konzepte eingegangen werden, und ihre Vor- und Nachteile hervorgehoben werden. Eine Bewertung, inwieweit sich diese Konzepte in der Praxis anwenden lassen und wie diese Realisierung aussehen kann, schlie t diese Hausarbeit ab.
