Las vacunas y la vacunaci�n, junto con la potabilizaci�n de agua, son las principales medidas sanitarias que considera la Organizaci�n Mundial de la Salud para gozar de una buena salud.

El campo de las vacunas y las vacunaciones est�n en constante evoluci�n y cambio, buena prueba de ello es la introducci�n en los �ltimos a�os de varias, como las antimeningoc�cica tetravalente (ACWY) y B, la vacuna frente a papilomavirus 9-valente, las antigripales tetravalentes, de cultivo celular y de alta carga antig�nica, frente a herpes z�ster recombinante adyuvada, y, por supuesto, el arsenal de vacunas desarrolladas para luchar contra el SARS-CoV-2 durante la pandemia.

Actualmente, tenemos en perspectiva varias vacunas de las que dispondremos en poco tiempo y que se est�n desarrollando a partir de las nuevas plataformas de fabricaci�n, como son vacunas frente al virus respiratorio sincitial (VRS), vacunas frente al virus de inmunodeficiencia humana (VIH), citomegalovirus, malaria, �bola, meningoc�cica pentavalente y todas las vacunas que utilizaran la tecnolog�a de ARNm, etc�tera.

Otro aspecto a considerar es que la planificaci�n y gesti�n de los programas y campa�as de vacunaci�n, junto con su administraci�n, recae casi de forma exclusiva en las enfermeras, especialmente en las que desarrollan su labor asistencial en el �mbito de la Pediatr�a y Atenci�n Comunitaria dentro de la Atenci�n Primaria.

Las enfermeras poseemos una formaci�n adecuada y contrastada para asignar a cada grupo poblacional las indicadas conforme a su edad o grupo de riesgo, por lo que la recomendaci�n y consejo vacunal debe ser una parte fundamental en nuestra labor de cuidados.

Como ejemplo m�s cercano y visible, podemos citar la gesti�n de la campa�a de vacunaci�n frente a SARS-CoV-2, donde las enfermeras han demostrado su competencia, responsabilidad, compromiso e implicaci�n en el eficaz desarrollo de esta, siendo actoras principales del �xito de la campa�a y alcanzando un gran reconocimiento por parte de la poblaci�n y de las autoridades sanitarias.

Con este Manual buscamos acercar el mundo de las vacunas a todas las enfermeras, ya que el objetivo principal de ANENVAC es colaborar en la mejora de la salud de la poblaci�n a trav�s de la inmunizaci�n frente a enfermedades inmunoprevenibles, as� como colaborar en la formaci�n vacunal de las enfermeras y de la sociedad.
