Marriage is Hard.Military marriage is even harder, especially after a period of separation. Just like any car that sits dormant during a deployment needs a little special attention, your marriage requires some TLC after time apart, too. And because marriage is meant for the long haul, it is worth the work to ensure it is running right. It doesn't matter if this is your first deployment or you're a seasoned spouse, reintegrating your Soldier into family life is challenging. It really never gets any easier either. The challenges just change based on a wide range of factors. Marriage Maintenance: Tune Up After Time Apart walks couples through the conversations necessary for reestablishing "normal" family life. The workbook format helps you perform proper maintenance to give your marriage the tune up it deserves. It isn't a fix all, but it provides the framework required to help you establish patterns and habits for a healthy and happy marriage based on Biblical principles. Workbooks tailored "for him" and "for her" contain questions for husband and wife covering 11 key areas of marriage paired with pertinent Bible Study content allowing partners to process their thoughts individually. Then, couples come together for productive conversations that will ensure their marriage runs smoothly for the long haul. If you identify areas of excessive friction during the diagnostic questions, each module identifies tools to help you tackle those challenges requiring specialized service.Let's get your marriage running right. To maximize benefits, purchase with companion workbook, Marriage Maintenance For Him.

Liz Giertz was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Transportation Corps in 1997. She served as a Heavy Equipment Transport (HET) platoon leader at Fort Hood and deployed to Bosnia. She then served as the Battalion Maintenance Officer for the 180th Transportation Battalion, Fort Hood, Texas before relocating to Seoul, South Korea. She served as the Battalion Support Operations Maintenance officer. After attending the Captain's Career Course at FT Lee, VA, she moved to Wiesbaden Germany in January of 2003 and immediately deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom I as the plans officer for the 27th Transportation Battalion (Movement Control). She spent 3 months in Kuwait before moving North to Balad Air Base, Iraq. When the Battalion Headquarters returned to Iraq in 2005, Liz was selected as the Battalion Rear Detachment Commander. She maintained command and control of the rear detachment element, oversaw training for the deployment of two subordinate detachments, planned redeployment and reintegration for two additional detachments, coordinated the dissolution of two detachments, supervised the Battalion's real world movement control mission across the entirety of Germany, and cared for countless family members. Her awards and decorations include the Army Parachutist Badge, Army Achievement Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, and the Bronze Star. In January of 2007, at the rank of Captain (Promotable) she resigned her commission and traded her combat boots and ACU's for a diaper bag and a pink ID card. Her husband continues to serve on Active Duty while she commands the space they call home at whatever post the Army sends them. They have two boisterous boys and one shelter pup who keep them on their toes. Liz volunteers with their church and has served in several board positions with Protestant Women of the Chapel (PWOC). Together they have survived 13 years as an Army couple and three more deployments since OIF I. Each time they have conquered new and different challenges, many of which this workbook is designed to help you overcome. Liz also operates a home based business where she gathers women around her messy desk for fellowship and crafting. She blogs at www.LizGiertz.com where she encourages women to overcome life's messes and embrace their memories as they become the masterpieces God created them to be.
