Das vorliegende Übungsheft, soll in erster Linie der Vorbereitung auf das Studium an Fachhochschulen dienen. Für die Aufnahme eines Hochschulstudiums ist das Fachabitur oder die fachgebundene Hochschulreife erforderlich. Daneben gibt es aber auch die Möglichkeit mit einer höheren Berufsqualifizierung, wie den Meister oder als Absolvent einer zweijährigen anerkannten Fachschule, ein Studium aufzunehmen. Gerade hier zeigen sich aber oft Defizite in der Mathematik und den Naturwissenschaftlichen Grundlagen, um das Studium zum Wirtschafts-, Bau-, Maschinenbau- bis hin zum Elektroingenieur erfolgreich zu beginnen. Das Gleiche gilt, wenn das Datum der Hochschulreife schon etwas zurückliegt. Um sicherzustellen, dass das erforderliche Werkzeug, wie die Mathematik oder die Naturwissenschaftlichen Grundlagen zum Studienbeginn vorhanden ist, haben sich Dr. Ing. Jürgen Schlüsing und Dipl.-Physiker Hans-Jürgen Hellberg entschieden, eine erste kleine Übungsheftreihe zusammenzustellen.

Der Autor Jürgen Schlüsing absolvierte seine Schule an einem mathematisch-naturwissenschaftlichem Gymnasium und studierte dann an der Universität Hannover Bauingenieurwesen. Nach 2-jähriger Tätigkeit in einer Baufirma begann er mit der Promotion ebenfalls an der Universität Hannover. Diese schloss er im Januar 1988 mit dem Thema Zur Bemessung von Flugplatzbefestigungen mit flexiblen Decken ab. Danach trat er in die internationale Abteilung Airconsult des Frankfurter Flughafens ein und betreute weltweit die Entwicklung von Flughäfen. Nach verschiedenen Tätigkeiten als Geschäftsführer unterschiedlicher Firmen gründete er 2003 sein eigenes Unternehmen S-Consult. Auch hierbei wurden weltweit Projekte betreut, allerdings jetzt mit Schwerpunkt erneuerbarer Energien. Nach jahrelangen Erfahrungen im asiatischen Raum konzentriert er sich aktuell auf den arabischen Bereich. Parallel hält er seit 25 Jahren Vorlesungen an verschiedenen Universitäten und Hochschulen in den Feldern Flugplatzbefestigungen, Tragwerksplanung, Bauphysik, Technische Mechanik, Mathematik und Finanzmathematik. Gemeinsam mit einem seiner Partner, dem Physiker Hans-Jürgen Hellberg, startete er 2020 eine Booklet-Reihe für Studienanfänger, wobei er den Teil der Mathematik beisteuerte. Hauptgründe waren die immer größer werdenden Wissenslücken der Studenten, was den erfolgreichen Einstieg ins Studium erschwerte. Gemeinsam leiten beide heute die S-CONSULT mit dem Schwerpunkt im Bereich Umwelt und Technologie.
