Aber ihre mathematische Erforschung begann erst in den drei iger Jahren des vorletzten Jahrhunderts, als der belgische Physiker Joseph A. Plateau (1801 bis 1883) Drahtgestelle in Seifenwasser tauchte und über die Ergebnisse staunte. Selbst heute, 170 Jahre später, haben wir noch keine vollständige mathematische Erklärung - oder auch nur Beschreibung - einiger interessanter Phänomene, die Plateau beobachtet hat. In der Sommerzeit ist es den Gästen von Biergärten sicherlich aufgefallen, dass der Schaum leider nicht so schön bleibt, wie man ihn bekommt, und mit diesem Problem beschäftigen sich Wissenschaftler (und auch die Brauereien) schon seit Plateaus- Zeiten, wie man dieses Gebilde langlebiger macht. Au erdem wird es in dieser Arbeit versucht, anhand von Daten aus der Fachhochschule in Kiel, durch mathematisch- statistische Untersuchungen den exponentiellen Verlauf von dem Schaumzerfall zu bestätigen. Ferner werden die Einflussparameter von Schäumen mit statistischen Methoden auf Signifikanz untersucht.
