L'objectif général de cette recherche était de: Expliquer les processus de médiation du discours télévisé du sujet à Maracaibo (Etat de Zulia-Venezuela). Nous avons travaillé avec des sujets issus des secteurs populaires de la ville. Nous avons considéré les instances de médiation présentes dans l'utilisation du discours journalistique ou informatif, publicitaire et de divertissement, en contrastant l'analyse sur la base de la participation ou non à des organisations communautaires. L'étude s'inscrit dans le cadre de l'épistémologie critique latino-américaine.Elle a utilisé une méthodologie qualitative, en particulier des discussions de groupe. Six discussions de groupe ont été organisées dans trois paroisses de la ville de Maracaibo (Francisco Eugenio Bustamante, Idelfonso Vásquez et Santa Lucía). Les principaux résultats sont les suivantsles instances politico-idéologiques apparaissent dans les processus de médiation et définissent non seulement la réception mais aussi l'utilisation dans la vie quotidienne; les sujets qui font partie des conseils communaux ont tendance à utiliser la télévision principalement pour l'information et les programmes d'opinion pour la documentation; tandis que ceux qui ne participent pas exigent de la télévision qu'elle les divertisse.
