Patterson's classes as live online courses. COURSE DESCRIPTION: A comprehensive study of medical insurance billing, introduction to CPT(R), ICD & HCPCS coding and collection strategies. Procedures and paperwork involving various insurance providers including, Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE, CHAMPVA, California Workers' Compensation System and Managed Care plans for inpatient and outpatient claims. Privacy rules and regulations involving patient confidential information governed by HIPAA. Set-up a mock medical practice using web-based software to enter new practice information, new patient demographic and insurance information, patient billing, electronic and paper claims processing.

KRIS G. PATTERSON is the owner of KGP Consulting, LLC a Practice Management & Consulting company based in Southern California. As a consultant for small and medium sized businesses, community colleges and private practitioners, she advises, performs audits and makes recommendations on medical billing, insurance and front office management. She began her career in the healthcare field in 1988 after completing a Certificate Program at California State University, Los Angeles. Before becoming an instructor, she worked as a medical insurance biller and owned Kris & Company, her first medical billing company. Through independent study and research, she was able to enhance this program and develop her unique method to train thousands of students. In 1990 she became an instructor for a Certificate Program which she now takes to Community College campuses throughout California. She now uses those proven skills from her research and independent study to train medical billers and 35 colleges in Northern, Central and Southern California. Kris also audits and analyzes personal injury medical bills for the insurance industry.
