Durch die Entwicklung der Kameratechnik haben sich die fotografischen Möglichkeiten für die Infrarotfotografie in den letzten Jahren erweitert. Infrarot-Film wurde durch die digitale Fotografie abgelöst. Digitale Kamerasysteme verwenden zunehmend Kameras mit spiegelloser Suchertechnik. Beides ändert und vereinfacht die Infrarot-Fotografie erheblich. Der Autor Dr. Klaus Bauer hat sich in seinem Berufsleben eigentlich mit kaufmännischen Fragen auseinandergesetzt. Daneben beschäftigt sich seit mehr als 40 Jahren mit der Fotografie. Inzwischen verfolgt er vorwiegend fotografische Projekte. Dabei liegt sein Schwerpunkt vor allem auf der Infrarot-Fotografie, die sich teilweise erheblich von der "üblichen" Fotografie unterscheidet. Dies gilt sowohl für die Auswahl der Motive und die Aufnahmetechnik als auch für die Bildbearbeitung. Es gibt nicht viel Literatur zum Thema Infrarot-Fotografie. Vieles ist veraltet oder vergriffen. Deshalb entstand sehr schnell ein kleines Skript, in dem der Autor beschrieb, wie er seine Infrarot-Fotos erstellt. Damit war die Idee zu diesem Buch geboren, das nicht den Anspruch hat, alles zum Thema Infrarot-Fotografie mit wissenschaftlicher Genauigkeit aufzubereiten. Es will vielmehr aufzeigen, wie der Autor zu seinen Infrarot-Aufnahmen kommt. Deshalb ist auch von einem "persönlichen Rezeptbuch" und nicht von einem Lehrbuch die Rede. Am Ende kann der Leser den Weg des Verfassers zu seinen digitalen Infrarot-Fotos und die wesentlichen technischen Hintergründe nachvollziehen. Damit erwirbt er die notwendigen Grundlagen, um für sich selbst zu entscheiden, mit welchem technischen Equipment und mit welcher Software er seinen individuellen Weg zu Infrarot-Aufnahmen beschreiten will. Ein lesenswertes Buch für alle, die sich für einen Einstieg in die digitale Infrarot-Fotografie interessieren, aber auch für die, die bereits eingestiegen sind und mit ihren Ergebnissen noch nicht (ganz) zufrieden sind.
