Die wesentliche Fragestellung lautet hierbei, ob und wenn ja, warum Metaphern in der Wissenschaftssprache allgemein und in der Sprache der Informatik speziell vorkommen und inwieweit diese für deren begriffliche Verständlichkeit notwendig sind. Die Zielsetzung in diesem Zusammenhang ist zu erarbeiten, wie sich Metaphern in der Sprache der Informatik konkret niederschlagen und welchen Nutzen die Informatik von metaphorischen Bildungen hat. Der theoretische Teil dieser Arbeit befasst sich sprachtheoretisch mit dem Phänomen Metapher in seiner ganzen Reichweite: vom blo en Stilmittel, über die tragende Rolle bei der Konzeptualisierung der menschlichen Realität, bis hin zur strukturalistischen Funktion in der Sprache. Diese Arbeit stützt sich hauptsächlich auf die kognitive Metapherntheorie von Lakoff & Johnson. Es werden jedoch auch ausführlich die Bildfeldtheorie der Metapher von Weinrich, sowie zum einen ihr vorausgehende und zum anderen weiterführende Metaphertheorien, die den aktuelleren Stand der Metaphernforschung widerspiegeln bzw. andere Forschungsrichtungen aufzeigen, berücksichtigt. Anhand einer Korpusuntersuchung werden Begriffsbeispiele aus dem Bereich der Informatik ausführlich daraufhin analysiert, inwieweit sie metaphorische Eigenschaften aufweisen. Diese korpusbasierte Analyse verfährt dabei nach der Methode des lexical approach . Auf dem Wege der sprachlichen Analyse soll die dahinterliegende konzeptuelle Metaphorik aufgedeckt werden. Als Gegenstand der onomasiologischen Analyse wurden zum grö ten Teil Fachwörterbücher und zum kleineren Teil (für die Kategorie der sogenannten vermenschlichenden Metaphern) Computerfachzeitschriften ausgewählt, weil sie eine Schnittstelle zwischen Wissensch
