Unlike many traditional books on RF and microwave engineering written mainly for the classroom teaching, the second edition of the Microwave and RF Engineering book adopts a practical, hands-on approach to quickly introduce both students and practicing engineers to the principals of this important subject.

The author make extensive use of the Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools in the Keysight Genesys software to illustrate the foundational principles of RF and microwave engineering. In general this book provides readers a solid understanding of RF and microwave concepts such as electronic components, Smith chart, S-parameters, transmission lines, impedance matching, resonators, filters and amplifiers. More importantly, it details how the EDA tools are used in the book to analyze, synthesize, simulate, tune, and optimize these essential components into a design flow as practiced in industry. This ensures that the skills learned in this book can be easily and immediately put into practice without the barriers of having to acquire costly and complex EDA tools.

Behagi, Ali: - Ali A. Behagi received the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Southern California and the MS degree in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan. He has several years of industrial experience with Hughes Aircraft and Beckman Instruments. Professor Behagi joined Penn State University as an associate professor of electrical engineering in 1986. He has devoted over 20 years to teaching RF and microwave engineering courses and directing university research projects. While at Penn State he received a National Science Foundation grant to establish a microwave and RF engineering lab and the Keysight ADS and Genesys software grants to use them in teaching high frequency circuit design courses and laboratory experiments. At present Professor Behagi is very active in authoring and publication of several textbooks and solution manuals in the field of RF and microwave circuit design. He is a Life Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Microwave Theory and Techniques Society. Society.
