Poems are miniature novels, text books, historical records, recipe cards and any other genre one can imagine. The difference is--because poems are traditionally not more than a page or two-that they take a lot of thinking and connecting the dots by the reader. Metaphors, similes, confessions...not many of us have time to contemplate after reading a poem. Maybe because I'm "short" the saying "Good things come in small packages" intrigued me enough to read poetry and then write it. I like cataloging my poetry by subject. Each subject is a world in itself. The planets in our solar system are very different: size, composition of gases, wetness, dryness. If we were able to visit them, the separate personalities would be more obvious. So each of my poems are miniature worlds: Planet Music, Planet Love & Loss, Planet Mythology, Planet Florida, you understand, I'm sure. So please visit each world with enjoyment and indulge yourself in a bit of after-reading reflection because to me, interpreting the layers of each world contains the most satisfaction!

Clarissa Simmens is an Independent poet; Romani drabarni (herbalist/advisor); ukulele player; and music addict. Her poetry is written simply, striving to compose musically, including talking blues, folktales, and memoirs of life. She likes all music genres but especially classic rock, Folk, Romani (Gypsy), and Cajun with an emphasis on guitar and violin music mainly in a Minor Key. She hopes to heal souls and maybe poetry can accomplish that.
