Mireille: Poeme Provencal is a book written by Frederic Mistral and published in 1859. It is a long narrative poem that tells the story of a young woman named Mireille who lives in the Provence region of France. The poem is written in the Proven�����al language, which is a dialect of Occitan that is spoken in the south of France.Mireille is a beautiful and virtuous young woman who falls in love with a handsome young man named Vincent. However, their love is thwarted by the interference of Mireille's father, who wants her to marry a wealthy landowner instead. Vincent is forced to leave the region to avoid being killed by Mireille's father, and Mireille dies of a broken heart.The poem is notable for its depiction of the Proven�����al landscape and its use of Proven�����al dialect. It was also influential in the revival of interest in Proven�����al language and culture in the 19th century. Mistral was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1904 for his contributions to Proven�����al literature.This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
