Dieses Buch f�hrt Leser*innen in die wissenschaftlich-mathematische Denkweise an Universit�ten ein, ohne dabei die Schulmathematik zu wiederholen. Informatikstudent*innen erhalten dar�ber hinaus eine Basis f�r das Verst�ndnis der Konzepte des eigenen Faches und einen algorithmischen Zugang zu der oft nur als Werkzeug verstandenen Mathematik. Der Text ist insbesondere zum Selbststudium gedacht, mit vielen Programmierbeispielen in Python und zahlreichen �bungsaufgaben inkl. allen zugeh�rigen L�sungen und Programmcodes.

Das Buch gliedert sich in zwei Teile. Im erstenTeil wird in die Grundlagen des logischen Arbeitens eingef�hrt: Mathematik hat mit Logik zu tun, aber wie genau und was ist Logik? Was ist die Basis f�r mathematisches Denken, wann sind mathematische Gedankeng�nge pr�zise und wie dr�ckt man sie aus und schreibt sie auf? Im zweiten Teil geht es um die Frage, was Zahlen eigentlich sind und woher sie kommen. Von den nat�rlichen �ber die ganzen und rationalen Zahlen f�hrt der Weg zu den reellen Zahlen, die sich meist als Dezimalzahl nicht mehr exakt hinschreiben, sondern nur noch beliebig genau approximieren lassen. Solche Rechenverfahren l�sst man besser Computer ausf�hren, daher wird parallel zur Mathematik auch in das Programmieren mit Python eingef�hrt.
Alle entwickelten Algorithmen, angefangen von der Definition einer Addition durch einfaches Hochz�hlen bis hin zur beliebig genauen Approximation der Kreiszahl π, werden damit realisiert. Der Leser erh�lt so neben einer soliden Einf�hrung in die Grundlagen der Mathematik auchdas notwendige Handwerkszeug f�r programmiertechnische Anwendungen.

About The Author

Prof. Dr. Peter Knabner promovierte in Mathematik an der Universität Augsburg und ist seit über 20 Jahren Inhaberdes Lehrstuhls für Angewandte Mathematik 1 der FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg. Neben seiner Forschungstätigkeit imBereich Analysis, Modellierung und Numerik liegt ihm die Lehre sehr am Herzen. So ist eine Reihe von Lehrbüchernund Aufgabenbänden entstanden, die zum Teil auch auf Englisch vorliegen.

Balthasar Reuter studierte Computational Engineering und Scientific Computing an der FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg undder KTH Stockholm. Seit 2013 arbeitet er als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter und Doktorand an der FAU und beschäftigtsich mit numerischen Verfahren für Ozeanmodellierung und parallelem Rechnen.

Dr. Raphael Schulz studierte Mathematik und Physik an der TU Darmstadt und promovierte dort 2012. Derzeit ist erwissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter und Habilitand an der FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg und lehrt in den Bereichen Analysis undNumerik. Seine Forschungsarbeiten beschäftigen sich unter anderem mit partiellen Differentialgleichungen imZusammenhang mit Fluiddynamik und veränderlichen porösen Medien.
