Welche Rolle spielt die Sprache im Erkenntnisprozess? - All dies sind Fragen, welche die Sprachphilosophie und auch die folgende Ausarbeitung betreffen. (...) Die Sprachphilosophie hat ihren Ursprung in der Philosophie. Schaut man in einem normalen Lexikon unter dem Begriff Sprache nach, so findet man die Auffassung, dass "die Zeichen [...] nicht der notwendige oder natürl. Ausdruck der Wirklichkeit [sind], sondern sie werden ihr von jeder Sprachgemeinschaft konventional zugeordnet."3 In einem philosophischen Wörterbuch findet man Folgendes zum Begriff Sprache Sprache sei "die nicht einer blo sinnlich-triebhaften Empfindungsmitte, sondern dem seel.geist. Verstehenszentrum des Menschen entspringende Fähigkeit des Menschen, mit einer sinnlich wahrnehmbaren Gestalt [...] eine nur geistig verstehbare Bedeutung zu verbinden"4; weiterhin werde sich der Geist erst in der Sprache "denkend u. erkennend der Dinge, Zusammenhänge u. seiner selbst klar."5 Es wird bestritten, dass sie "nicht nur Ausdruck von etwas, das schon zuvor fertig im Innern da wäre"6, sei - diese Auffassung von der Sprache als Ausdruck bzw. Abbild der Gedanken geht auf Aristoteles zurück, wie wir sehen werden. Die vorliegenden, komprimierten Erkenntnisse über Sprache sind das Produkt aus jahrhundertelanger sprachphilosophischer Reflexion und enthalten Auffassungen, die in dieser Form noch nicht von Platon und Aristoteles erdacht wurden - jedoch haben sie einen grundlegenden Anteil an diesen Reflexionen, wie gezeigt werden wird.
