Weiterhin werden ausgewählte Präventionsmöglichkeiten erläutert. Dabei liegt der Schwerpunkt auf Handlungsmöglichkeiten für den öffentlichen Dienst. Anschlie end werden die verschiedenen Sichtweisen auf die Definitionen von Mobbing und die erwähnten Präventionsmöglichkeiten diskutiert. "Die Hölle, das sind die anderen!" Dieses Zitat aus Jean-Paul Sartres Einakter "Bei geschlossenen Türen" stellt die Bundesanstalt für Arbeitsschutz und Arbeitsmedizin (BAuA) an den Anfang ihres Mobbingratgebers "Wenn aus Kollegen Feinde werden...". In Sartres Stück finden sich zwei Frauen und ein Mann nach ihrem Tod in einem Salon wieder, aus dem sie nicht entkommen können. Sie sind für immer aufeinander angewiesen und müssen erkennen, dass die persönliche Freiheit ihre Grenzen in der Freiheit der anderen hat. In dieser Situation kommt der Mann zu dem Entschluss, dass die Hölle in der Person der anderen liegt. Mobbing ist in erster Linie eine Problematik der Arbeitswelt. Auch wenn in anderen Lebensbereichen wie beispielsweise dem Verein gemobbt werden kann, ist unter solchen Umständen das Verlassen des sprichwörtlichen "Salons" einfacher. Am Arbeitsplatz ist man zunächst verpflichtet jeden Tag zu erscheinen. Ähnlich wie in Sartres Stück ist man auf die anderen (Kollegen) angewiesen. Ist das zwischenmenschliche Verhältnis zu den Kollegen gestört, kann der Arbeitsplatz für den Betroffenen gefühlt zur Hölle werden.
