Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2004 im Fachbereich Theologie - Vergleichende Religionswissenschaft, Note: 2.0, Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg (Institut für Religiosnwissenschaft), Veranstaltung: Die gegenwärtige religiöse Lage in Deutschland, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Esoterik ist kein neues Phänomen. Es gab schon immer, in Begleitung der offiziell institutionalisierten Religion, Gruppen, die sich mit einem "geheimen Wissen" von dieser abgrenzten. Neu in unserer Zeit ist allerdings, dass dieses Wissen, was wie der Name es sagt geheim sein sollte, heute der breiten Masse zugänglich ist; man kann fast behaupten, dass es allgegenwärtig ist. Es vergeht kaum ein Tag ohne dass man irgendwo, egal ob im Fernsehen, in der Zeitung, Zeitschrift, Stra enwerbung oder von der lächelnden Person an der Ecke, irgend eine Einladung zu einer religiösen Gruppe, Selbsthilfe Seminar, einer Esoterikmesse oder ähnliches bekommt. Mit "spirituellen" Themen wird man immer öfter im Alltag konfrontiert, sei es im Film, Werbung, Internet, Buchhandlung, Radio oder beim Spaziergang durch die Hauptstra e. Immer mehr Leute finden "ihre eigene Religion"; die einen können es mit dem Christ-Sein vereinbaren, die anderen nehmen es als Alternative dazu. Es besteht kein Zweifel, dass die Beschäftigung mit dem "Religiösen" boomt. Die Frage ist nur: Warum? Warum in einer säkularisierten Gesellschaft, wie die deutsche es angeblich ist, in der Wissenschaft und Technik weit entwickelt sind, in der immer mehr Bürger die Kirche verlassen, moderne Esoterik sich etablieren konnte und immer mehr Zulauf findet? Das Thema ist komplex, es umfasst viele Faktoren. Darum beschränken wir uns auf das Warum und lassen das Wie ganz unberücksichtigt. Wir wollen im ersten Teil der Arbeit den Grundriss des Zeitgeistes schildern, d.h., der Moderne samt ihrer Probleme und Sehnsüchten, ohne den Anspruch zu erheben, die Moderne gänzlich zu erfassen.
