About The Book

MomMom Cares tells the story of a young boy who lost his grandmother, and the warm, positive thoughts he has whenever he sees rainbows.

Written by a mother trying to explain the death of her own mother to her child, MomMom Cares is an excellent book for other parents to explain the death of a grandparent, bereavement groups, counselors, and spiritual advisers like a priest, rabbi, or cantor.

Parents often have a difficult time telling their children that a grandparent died. Often, we can still feel the presence of a loved one after they are gone, and many see signs that their loved one is still around them. This book may help a child better deal with the loss of a family member, like a grandma or grandpa, and may help a parent who is struggling to explain "what happens after death" or how to help their child otherwise deal with the death of a grandparent.

About The Author

Kira Turchin is a well-respected author, philanthropist, entrepreneur, biomedical engineer, wife, and most importantly, mommy. She is also the founder of the not-for-profit, Betty Cares, Inc., a charity benefitting parents of sick, injured and disabled children. More information can be found at www.BettyCares.org.

With a young child, Joshua, at home, and preg-nant with her second child, Shaina, Kira experienced the untimely death of her mother, Betty. Betty was a heart-filled, joyous and supportive mother to Kira, mother-in-law to Jason, and a doting grandmother, or MomMom, to Kira's son. When Kira's son learned of MomMom's death, Kira turned to writing and art as a means of explaining their loss.

MomMom Cares delivers a positive message in the difficult times families may face when a loved one dies. "Whenever I see rainbows, I feel my mom's presence and feel as if she is watching over me," says Kira.
