Morning Star, IN PREMIUM COLOR, is an inspirational collection of photography and poetry. Included in the book are free verse and short form poetry, consisting of haiku, tanka, haiga, tankart, tanka prose and tanka sequences. I've used my own photography, some of which I've digitally edited. Morning Star is the title given to our Blessed Mother in the Litany of Loreto. Just as the morning star announces the coming of the day, appearing in the sky and reflecting the light of the sun, our Blessed Mother, so strong and bright, shows us the way to her Son.
Mary Davila is one of those rare talents who writes both haiku and tanka, and is also an excellent photographer. Her haiga and tanka art are exquisite. I also love that she is not afraid to write about her faith. Her faith shines through in poetry that is uplifting, spiritual and full of empathy.

Mary Davila is the embodiment of kindness and joy, which is perfectly captured in her writing. Davila, Mary Adba: - About the author Mary and her husband, Frank, live in Western New York. In 2006, after a career of over thirty years, Mary retired from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. Mary didn't start writing poetry until the age of fifty and has been writing ever since. Her poetry, haiku, tanka, haiga and tankart have been published in numerous journals online and in print. In addition to poetry and photography, she enjoys editing and enhancing her photos in paint shop pro and photoshop. Mary and Frank make rosaries as part of their parish's "rosary makers" ministry. Mary is a Lector at Mass, while Frank is a Eucharistic Minister. Her faith is an integral part of her life and has helped her get through an extensive array of medical issues. God has always been there for her. The lives of the saints have also been a source of inspiration. One saint in particular, St. Therese of the Child Jesus, the Little Flower, who wrote beautiful poetry, has touched her life. St. Therese suffered immensely at the end of her life and accepted all her sufferings with love. Mary has dedicated her website to St. Therese.
