Mosaics from India: Talks About India, Its Peoples, Religions, and Customs (1902) by Margaret B. Denning offers a detailed exploration of Indian culture and society from the perspective of a missionary. Denning shares her observations and experiences, providing insights into India's diverse peoples, their religions, and unique customs. The book touches on social practices, religious beliefs, and everyday life in India, reflecting the author's deep involvement in the country during her 29 years of service. Denning's work serves as both a personal account and an informative narrative about Indian life in the early 20th century.

Margaret B. Denning (1856–1935) was an American missionary, temperance activist, and author. After graduating from Illinois Wesleyan University, she and her husband, Dr. John Otis Denning, moved to India in 1890, where she devoted herself to missionary and temperance work. She became president of the National Woman’s Christian Temperance Union of India from 1911 to 1919. Denning authored Mosaics from India (1902), providing insights into India’s cultures, religions, and customs, and Dainty Cookery for the Home (1903), a cookbook blending English, American, and Indian recipes. She passed away in Pacific Palisades, California, in 1935.
