Unabhängig davon, in welchem Bundesland das Fach unterrichtet wird, findet man im Inhaltsverzeichnis das Thema "Stadtgeographie". In dieser Kategorie werden Konzepte, Raumplanung und Stadtentwicklung thematisiert, aber auch Stadtmodelle aus historischem und kulturellem Gesichtspunkt zusammengefasst. So findet man die römische Stadt, die mittelalterliche europäische Stadt und die Residenzstadt, die Industriestadt, sowie Gartenstädte. Ebenso werden Städte nach globalen und politischen Merkmalen veranschaulicht, wie z.B. die sozialistische Stadt, die Trabantenstadt, die nordamerikanische Stadt und die lateinamerikanische Stadt. Dabei wird auch die afrikanische Stadt genannt und charakterisiert. Die Frage hierbei ist, ob es wirklich so einfach ist, diese Städte und vor allem die "afrikanische Stadt", in ein Stadtmodell im klassischen Sinne zu stellen und zu integrieren. Die Gemeinsamkeit, die alle afrikanischen Städte vorweisen, ist die Tatsache, dass sie dem Kolonialismus europäischer Gro mächte unterworfen waren. Doch was war vor dem Kolonialismus, sehen alle Städte auf dem afrikanischen Kontinent gleich aus und gibt es überhaupt eine "afrikanische Stadt"? Dieser Problematik werde ich in dieser Arbeit meine Aufmerksamkeit widmen, um schlussendlich zu bewerten, ob die Definition der "afrikanischen Stadt" überhaupt zeitgemä ist.

Der Autor Fabian Schönrock (geboren am 29.06.1990 in Jena) ist ein studierter Ethnologe aus Frankfurt am Main.Er wuchs in der thüringischen Stadt Gera auf, welche irrtümlicherweise mit dem Bundesland Sachsen assoziiert wird.Diese fälschliche Annahme resultiert aus dem fürchterlichen Dialekt der Geraer Bevölkerung.Schönrock lebte in einer Plattenbausiedlung des Stadtteil Lusan, welcher zu seinem Bedauern als Nazihochburg verschrien ist.Mit 20 Jahren zog er aus der, Zone" (Begriff für das Territorium der ehemaligen DDR) aus, um seine Träume in Frankfurt am Main zu verwirklichen
